Peach Jam

Finally got the peach jam done yesterday. Tastes nice too. I do need to get some more labels before I put them in the cupboard so I know whats what.

In other news, Mum and Dad's removalist truck is stuck in Toowoomba, or was as of yesterday afternoon, due to the horrific flooding in SE Queensland. I am hoping that the truck will arrive sometime today as the waters have receeded somewhat and if they are travelling through Goondiwindi-Moree way those areas are not affected by the current floods.

Ashford is STILL waiting for the Severn River to peak. It is major flooding as it is expected to peak at 8m and 6m is considered major flooding. Thankfully Mum and Dads house is at the other side of town to the river. As we left yesterday the SES were evacuating the caravan park. They are expecting the peak to occur at about 9am.

Success - Dress!

This is the Simplicity 2675 pattern. It came out pretty well. I would say the instructions could have been more basic as it was meant to be the easiest patterns. The zip came out better than I had hoped.

Super Saturday

More zucchini pickles! I turned my back on them for a couple of days and a pile grew!

Three scrunchies done that I promised the girl ages ago to go with the last lot of skirts I made.

Five coin purses that will be put with the girls presents throughout the year.

This is Mae's birthday present. I think it looks pretty good and you may recognise the material (again!)

Here it is opened with borrowed things in it. I just have to get the A5 book and pencils to put in it.

Peaches

When we were at Mum and Dad's place yesterday, they gave me a heap of peaches. Specifically though Dad wanted me to have a go at preserving them. I have done beetroot before but never fruit. I consulted my trusty book and decided on a medium syrup. I made up three bottles of them and they have sealed. The rest will make up a batch of peach jam tomorrow.

Crafting

We have had a lovely lazy-ish day. We had morning tea down town and had a wander through the shops, looking at all the things we couldn't afford! Ha! Got Wesley's cement glue for his model Tomcat. And here it is! Didn't he do a good job!

Just have to buy the paints for the body now. He is pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially for his first model.

And here are two more coin purses I made today or as Amelia calls them penny purses.

Coin Purse

I had a 20 cm zipper and scraps, so I went looking for a coin purse tutorial and I found one over at Noodlehead's blog, is there anything she can't do? I don't think so.

Miss Amelia has been carrying around her Christmas money in a little tuille bag as she thinks she is too old for her Dora wallet now (being nearly 6). So her lack of a purse coupled with my need to do some sewing resulted in this coin purse.

This zip was originally bought when I did Aunty Wilma's gathered clutch (also from the same website), I wasn't sure what fabric I was going to use at the time. And you may recognise the outer fabric from one of the skirts I made Amelia.

Its lined with some material I bought from Salvation Army for 50c I think or possibly the Legacy shop. It was quick and fun to make so I am going to do a few and add them to the girls birthday presents throughout the year. I have heaps of scraps so I will just need to buy the zips.

Ollie the Octopus

Here is Ollie the Octopus that I finished about 20 mins ago. She (Amelia and I think the Ollie is short for Olive) is from Handmade magazine. The eyes and legs were really easy and fun. The toughest bit was putting the back onto the front. I had to hand stitch a bigger opening then indicated cause the legs kept getting in the way. I am happy with her anyway.

And here is the cupboard we have moved into the family/dining room with the Sconce we got from Mum and Dad above it. Dave and I have been pretty busy today reorganising and cleaning out the garage - the first time we have done it since we moved here 10 months ago! Off to load up the trailer for a trip to the tip.
